Customized Cooling Solution for a Food Processing Partner
The Situation
A major U.S.-based producer in the food processing industry with large-scale manufacturing operations has had a 20-year partnership with Tavoron. Known for their commitment to operational excellence and high-volume output, they rely on efficient, dependable compressed air systems to support critical production processes.
- Location: Upper Midwest
- Customer: Food Processing Industry
The Challenge
Over time, the customer’s compressor room became increasingly difficult to manage due to heat load and limited available space. The original system layout offered no space for larger equipment, and temperature related shutdowns were affecting production reliability.
The customer originally hoped to upgrade to higher horsepower compressors – but physical and electrical constraints within the room made that impossible. Compounding the challenge, the project needed to align with a tight summer shutdown window, making timing and coordination essential to avoid disruptions.
The Opportunity
With a trusted relationship built over two decades, the customer turned to Tavoron to develop a solution that could fit within the existing footprint, improve cooling efficiency, and be delivered and installed within their critical maintenance window.
The Solution
Account Manager Shane Bachmann collaborated with the customer’s team over a two-year planning cycle. Together, they designed a custom solution that met all physical, cooling, and scheduling constraints:Â
- Product: Quincy compressorsÂ
- Engineering Modification: Converted standard air-cooled compressors to support both air and water coolingÂ
- Support Services: Engineering coordination, service planning, and support from Tavoron’s piping department tavoron.comÂ
- Do you need to inspect round, touching, or randomly oriented products?
This approach enabled the compressors to remain the same horsepower as the previous units, ensuring compatibility with existing electrical capacity, while significantly improving cooling efficiency through dual cooling methods.
Implementation
The project was developed through a series of planning meetings that began two years prior. After detailed quoting and design work, the system was built and delivered in time for the scheduled summer shutdown. Installation and power preparation were completed onsite, with system startup scheduled shortly after.Â
One unique aspect of the implementation was the involvement of a longtime team leader on the customer’s side, who postponed retirement to see the project through, demonstrating the importance and complexity of the initiative.
The Results
Looking Ahead
This project highlights the value of long-term, collaborative partnerships especially in industrial settings where space constraints, utility limitations, and tight operational schedules make system upgrades more complex. Tavoron’s ability to adapt standard equipment to fit these challenges has made them a trusted partner for high-impact, facility-wide improvements.
We were impressed with how well Tavoron understood the constraints of our facility and delivered a solution that worked within our footprint and timeline. Their team was responsive, flexible, and made sure everything was ready ahead of our critical summer shutdown.
