Heavy-Duty Cartesian System for Vision Inspection
A worn cartesian robot was letting an inspection camera drift out of focus and position at an ammunition plant, causing inspection errors and unplanned downtime.
Engineers designed a heavy-duty cartesian system on precision linear guides that reused the existing motors and controls and mounted to the original frame.
After more than a year in service, inspection is steadier and more accurate, and the customer is evaluating five more machines.
