Plumbing Products Manufacturer

Robotic Overmolding for Pipe Hanger Production

For more than 20 years, a national plumbing products supplier molded pipe hooks in one area, moved them to another, and had operators install nails from vibratory bowls that jammed often and left missing or misaligned nails.

DevLinks designed a robotic overmolding cell that moves nail installation into the mold. A custom nail feeder and robot-assisted staging position each nail, a laser checks placement in the cavity, and a press-mounted robot loads nails and removes finished parts. Automated box indexing sends parts straight to shipping.

Three systems now run with one operator, replacing eight manual positions, with zero work-in-process, major floor space savings and consistent nail placement.

"DevLinks helped us completely rethink a process we'd accepted for years."Manufacturing Manager, plumbing products supplier

Consumer Products Manufacturer

Automated Screw Insertion for a Growing Retail Product

A Midwest maker of small plastic clips for home improvement and construction relied on four operators inserting screws by hand, which limited output and left alignment and depth inconsistent as demand grew.

DevLinks tested the concept with a screw-insertion technology partner, then redesigned the mold to four cavities producing 40 clips every 30 seconds. A gantry robot distributes molded strips onto four servo-driven lanes, a servo indexer positions each clip under the insertion guns, and sensors verify every screw.

Output rose enough to fill national retail orders. The customer ordered a second system in 2023 and began a third in 2025 after landing a national home improvement retail agreement.

"We went from struggling to keep up to expanding into new retail channels."Operations Manager, consumer products manufacturer
