What is abrasive blasting used for?
Abrasive blasting is used to clean, strip, deburr, descale, and finish metal and other surfaces by propelling abrasive media at high velocity. Common applications include corrosion removal, paint stripping, surface profiling for coatings adhesion, and cosmetic finishing of cast or fabricated parts.
What's the difference between a blast cabinet and a blast room?
A blast cabinet is an enclosed workstation for blasting individual parts or small assemblies — ideal for bench-top or production line use. A blast room is a walk-in enclosure designed for large components, structural steel, or bulk production blasting where a cabinet isn't feasible.
What abrasive media should I use?
Media selection depends on your substrate material, required surface profile, and finish specification. Steel shot produces a peened finish; steel grit creates an angular surface profile ideal for coating adhesion; glass bead delivers a bright, smooth finish; and aluminum oxide is preferred for harder materials and tight tolerances. Tavoron's application engineers can recommend the right media for your spec.
